Fun with finger puppets!

Owen received finger puppets from Auntie Kelly and Uncle Jason as a present when he was born and now he can finally do something more than just try to eat them.
Owen discovered his finger puppets the other day and has played with them every day since - he just loves them! he can even put them on hsi own fingers - now how cute is that?!?!

crazy day
Owen had his first emergency room visit last night. He and I have both had a cold, cough, and runny nose lately, but we were both pretty miserable last night. My throat hurt so bad I didn’t know what else to do but get in the car at 1am and go to the Hospital. I though a clinic would be open, but it wasn’t, so the Hospital was our only option. I knew that we both needed medicine badly, and Owen wasn’t sleeping anyways, so we all piled in to the car and headed out at 1am. We got home at 3am after the doctor said he only had mild irritations, and nothing major. I got a prescription and Owen did not. But at least we were checked out.
Owen went to Stacey Parson’s house today as Nana’s husband (the other Papa) had a heart attack on Monday. Owen and Joshua had a great time playing, and Stacey said he was great all day long. Owen had cranberry and pumpkin seed cookies today and loved them! Thanks Stacey!

Pictures from the last few days
Now that Owen is getting older, he poses for pictures better (like he did before he could get away from the camera).

And here is Owen on the patio barking at the neighbors dog (you can see his lips pursed in the "urf" doggie call).

And here is Owen and Papa at the park (last night). Owen LOVES the slide now and wanted to go on it over and over again (which meant Papa got lots of bird crap on his pant leg)!

Vegas baby
I missed Owen a bunch during the 5 days I was in Las Vegas, but I think he missed me more. Owen did have some very nice visits with his Aunties, cousins, and Mummo while I was out of town, but he was very happy to see me at the Airport, and hasn't left my side much since then. And just like a Mom, the first thing I bought when in Las Vegas was this onesie for Owen. It's just so cute!

And, coincidentally, the last thing I purchased in Vegas was this lovely set of gum boots for Owen. I bought them at the New York New York hotel - they go with the fireman theme. I could have also bought the matching rain jacket, but it was very expensive ($80 I think). The
boots were much more reasonable ($22). And they must be the cutest things I have ever seen!As soon as I gave them to Owen this morning he wanted me to put them on him. They are still a little big (size 6), but he loves to wear them around the house. He walks really well in them, but can;t seem to get up when sitting down. So then he takes them off. And here he is with one boot on and one boot off.

Owen and the bear
I am trying to get Owen's 13 month bear photo - even though he is 13.5 months old now. I took this first bunch of photos on Sunday, but didn't really like them too much. Gabe says Owen looks cross eyed in these pictures. I don't think he liked the flash.
So I took these photos today. But I still don;t have one that stands out as my favorite. I like these ones today (especially the one on the bottom right), but the book covers up his legs, so you can't really see his full size.
I don't think I am going to get another chance to take more photos of Owen - at least not things month. He is starting to loose his pateience with me and my camera. So I want to claim one of these as his 'montly shot with the bear' for March. What do you think? What is your favorite shot out of all of these?

Starting to feel better
He woke up yet again last night – twice – with nightmares. He just cried and cried and is inconsolable for 5-10 minutes. It is so hard to hear. And then he wakes up more, and is able to smile, and talk, and be happy, And then he is up for 10-20 minutes. And then he goes back to bed. This is very tiring for Mama and Papa. But at least he lets us sleep in when morning comes – we all slept in until 10am today. Needless to say, Gabe was late for work today.
Owen has been doing the "ahhhhh" after he takes a drink for about a week now, but today he learned yet a new noise to make with his mouth – he sucks in his bottom lip (quite far) and then opens his mouth fast to make a puckering sort of noise. He loves making noises like that. And he giggles now too! It is so cute. Last night, when we were up at midnight, he was tickling Gabe and giggling – it was soooooooooooooooo cute!

The storm before the calm?
around with Owen. Owen has been sick with this nasty cough and cold for about a week now. My poor boy now knows what the word 'Kleenex' means and he runs away when he hears it. I got the stomach flu a few days ago, so we are both home. I thought Owen was catching the flu bug too, but it seems he didn't. Which is good.
But Owen has been teething for a while now, and with his cough and cold on top of that, he has
been cranky and drooly and snotty and all sorts of other wonderful things in the last week or two. So I am hoping that this is the stprm before the calm - I hope he's back to normal soon. I don't want to think that this IS normal. Because it isn't - at least, not for Owen. His mornings are usuaklly ok, but the poor little guy can't sleep well (or nap well) as he can't breath through his nose and he wakes up coughing. So his afternoons and evenings aren't great.
Plus, with me being so sick, we can't leave the house to see friends, go to the park, or just get out for a bit. I'm hoping to be good enough to go back to work tomorrow so Owen will at least get to go to daycare and play with his friends there. That will probably make him happy.

How much do you love books?
When I say Owen loves his books, I mean he LOVES his books. Especially the touch and feels ones, and especially this book. It's called "That's not my bear". This one page of the book has velcro for the bears tongue, and Owen loves it! He especially likes to lick this page and feel the velcro on his tongue. It's hillarious! Owen will sit there (or lie there as the case may be) for 10 minutes or so just licking this one page. I had to capture it on film!

This was Owen on February 27, 2006. That was 365 days ago. He was so tiny and fresh and new. We didn't have a clue, back then.
I love this picture. Gabe had just come home from lunch. This was back in teh days when Gabe would come home for lunch everyday. He would gobble down his food and spend the other 58 minutes of his hour long lunch break holding, playing with, and loving on, Owen.
This is Owen today. February 27, 2007. He looks so different! Right now he is walking around the house saying 'hat, hat, hat' and 'this' with a hat on head head and caroons on in the backround. He has moved my boots to a different part of the room at least a dozen times, and he keeps bringin me a toy of his to 'share' with me. He is so grown up. My, how things change!

Busy week
This first picture shows one of Owen's new tricks - he can feed himself with a spoon. Don't be fooled into thinking he'll actually eat the scrambled egg though - he just likes to be able to bring the food to him mouth, but he refused to eat them, He actually hasn't been eating a lto lately.Owens hair is still unharmed at this point.
This next picture is of Owen and his Grandma (my Mom). Owen is sporting some new duds from my trip to Bellis Fair. His shirts says "More bananas please". Grandma is who tought Owen to say 'hat'. Now that he knows what a hat is, and can say 'hat', he will actually wear one for an extended period of time.By now Owen had had a run in with Papa and the scissors, but it looks so bad, I can't actually show it to you.

And here is Owen in the bathtub after Grandma and I tried to fix the mangled hair cut.
While Gabe was out with Owen, someone asked him how old his daughter was, so Gabe decided Owen needed a hari cut. Gabe had shaved the back 2/3rds right down to the skin and left the top. So we cut the top shorter and tried to make it look decent.
This is what we came up with...

Owen has such a little boys hair cut now. It's pretty cute when the front is spiked, and given a little time, the back will grow out and we'll get it fixed properly.
But he's still pretty darn cute!
And we found out he really likes to eat what ever we are eating - this was his breakfast - a bran muffin.
