crazy kids!

My boys just can't get enough of the Parson boys, which is good because we see them pretty much once a week!

Auntie Stacey bought all 5 boys matching t-shirts months ago, and then forgot all about them. Once she found them, we managed to get all 5 boys in the same area for a photo shoot, but there wasn't one pic where at least one (or more) kid was crying.

We all went to The Apple Barn in Abbotsford and picked out pumpkins today. We also jumped on the trampoline thing, saw scarecrows, got apple cider slushies and candy, went in the petting zoo, played at the park, and walked through the orchard. It was a lot of fun!

Auntie Karitas, Lina, and Dylan came too! It was a great day!

Update, sorry for not posting for the last 3 months

Our summer was VERY busy!

Here is a quick update:

- We went camping a few times, and Owen spent a lot of nights with Papa in the trailer in our driveway

- With a new haircut, Owen looks really grown up now!

- Owen had his 2 top, front teeth extracted at the end of August. He is doing great now, but he REALLY looks older now!

- He's wearing size 5 shirts, size 4 pants, and size 11 shoes!

- Both Andy and Owen started at a new daycare and they love it!

- We went to the Zoo, Science World, Kelowna, the Vancouver Aquarium, Sumas, the Chilliwack Flight Fest, and Party In The Park.

- Owen can write his name, type his name, and he knows all his letters. He is working on what sound they all make, and he really wants to read. He loves rhyming words together, and playing with sounds.

- He loves Word Girl, Sid the Science Kid, and Super Why

Owen is a happy kid who loves to play, and is always willing to cuddle with me. He doesn't let me leave the house without at least 3 hugs and kisses, and he still crawls into our bed just about every night. I love him sooooooo much!

This is Owen's "new trick". He makes me laugh. He thinks sloths are awesome. He does this a lot. He just cracks me up. He'll hang like this for a few minutes, like a dozen times a day, every day! What a goof!

Owen and I went to the Fireman competition down Chilliwack Lake Road today. Firemen from all over BC were there competing. Owen thought it was fantastic! We got to ride in a truck too!

bumped tooth

Owen was pushing Andy in the baby swing and the swing came back and knocked Owen in the tooth. We didn't think it was much at the time, but after a few days his tooth turned grey and we went to the Dentist. 

It seems that the bump broke the blood vessils in Owen's front tooth, and as the blood was absorbed into his tooth, it turned grey. The Dentist told us that the tooth is fine, Owen isn't in pain (Owen said that too), and that this will not affect his adult tooth (thank goodness!), but the tooth might stay grey until it falls out. The other 2 possibilities are that the tooth may clear up and go back to white, or (get ready for this...) the tooth could co black. BLACK! Yikes! Lets hope that doesn't happen. 

Owen doesn't seemed phased by the color of his tooth at all, so that is good!

Christian and Jonah came over for a BBQ today and they burried Pirate Owen in the gravel! Owen loved it!

Quading!

The Lanteigne family spent the day down at the river yesterday - enjoying the sunshine and riding on quads. Owen had a fantastic time! He got to make rock castles, go for a few rides with Papa and Uncle John, and play with his new friend Keaton. What a great day!

sunny days = trike riding!

We love sunny days! And we haven;t had one for a while now, so when the sun comes out, we all go outside to play!

Owen loves to ride his trike, now that he can do it all by himself. He rides down the street to the end of the cul-de-sac, and then comes back again. He loves it. What I don;t love is when he does it all by himself and doesn't let me know, so all the sudden he goes missing and I am running up and down the street shouting his name and panicking.

Going for a walk with Grandma and Grandpa

We visit Grandma and Grandpa just about once a week, and often (as long as it isn't raining or snowing) we go for a walk. We start at the cow field to see if the cows or donkey are out and then we hang out there for a while. And a few of the Mama cows just had babies, so today we got to see 3 little baby cows too!

And then we head down the street to the corner store where Grandpa ALWAYS buys Owen a treat - usually a little bag of penny candies. 

Today was an extra special treat because we all went on the walk together - Mama, Owen, Andy, Grandpa, and Grandma! Who could resist a walk with such a beautiful day like today?!

Ice Capades Mystika!

Owen and I had a particularly special evening last night. We had a date at the Ice Capades!

Our friends Jaqueline and Kaelen invited us to go to the Ice Capades Mystika show and then out to dinner at White Spot. Owen was excited about the show AND the cheeseburger afterwards!

We had a great time at Prospera Place, and Owen even shared a piece of pizza with me - bonus!

During the third act of the show (pictured here), Owen told me he didn't want the cheeseburger anymore - all he wanted was to get a pair of ice skates and to go skating after the show. He LOVED the show! But after some explanation, he decided to get the cheeseburger after all.

baseball season is starting again

Gabe plays ball from April until July each year, and as Owen gets older, he loves it more and more. 

Yesterday was the first practice of 2009, and Owen was there in all his glory. He cheered on the team, and even got to hit a few balls after the practice was over. 

Building blocks

Owen has had these building blocks for a long time now, but has really started loving them recently. He builds 'castles' and 'houses' all the time, and even built an airport hanger complete with little airplanes inside it the other day. 

Wearing underwear!

Owen and I went to Walmart today and he picked put 3 kinds of new big-boy underwear – Spiderman, Batman, and Transformers. And he even went pee on the toilet at Safeway (without a potty seat), and then, when we got home, Owen decided to pee standing up. Thankfully Papa cleaned up all the mess before I saw it.

I am speechless – Owen has gone poop on the toilet twice today! He went once at Grandma’s house – and his pull up was dry almost all day (only 2 small accidents), and then just now he went pee on the toilet all by himself and then poop all by himself 10 minutes later. He literally did it all by himself – he pulled his pants and pull up down, he put the potty seat on the toilet, climbed up, went pee and poop, wiped himself, pulled up his pull up and diaper, closed the lid, flushed, and then washed his hands. The only reason we knew he went was because we heard the water running and I went to investigate. Yay Owen! I think it is time to get some real big-boy undies!

Owen is going potty all by himself now. He pulled down his pants and his pull-up, went pee on the potty, and then pulled up his pull-up and jeans and THEN came and told us he went pee! Things like this make me think he won’t be in diapers for much longer. But then… he goes and poops in his pull-up. Sigh.

3-year old photo shoot with Play Group

Owen is 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We had a kids party for Owen this morning. The kids decorated their goodie bags with stickers, they played with toys, and watched Backyardigans. But the favorite part for all the kids was eating the cupcakes I made. They were green with coconut grass, plastic animals, candles, and sparklers on them. We had hotdogs and chili for lunch, and most of the kids, and some adults, were dressed up as cowboys! 

Poor Owen wasn’t really himself this morning, and he woke up from his nap with a fever of over 102 degrees, so once he got some Tylenol, he was acting more normal. 

And then we had a family birthday dinner as well. We had lasagnia and Caesar salad for dinner. We had more grass cupcakes, and Mummo made an apple pie too! And again, Owen got a ton of cool presents.

He had a great evening and really enjoyed playing with Nathan, dancing for all of us, and trying on all his new costumes.

Owen and Josh are best friends. They like to do everything together whenever they can!

Today we all went to Go Banana's, and then the Parsons came back to our house with us for a pizza lunch, and the kids got to play for a few more hours. Josh and Owen colored together, watched TV together, played together - they even went potty together!

Owen visits Grandma about once a week. Today we went for a walk along the river. Owen and Grandma found nice big rocks to throw in the river and made big splashes.

Owen and Andy get along great. They each get so excited to se each other and they play so well together. Already they are best friends. 

Owen is almost 3 and Andy is almost 7 months old.

Owen is turning 3!

Owen's 3rd birthday party will have a cowboy theme... as you can see, he is very excited about it!

Play-doh

Owen LOVES play-doh. And he loves the Backyardingans. And he LOVES pirates. So a Backyardigan play-doh pirate ship was the perfect Christmas gift for him! 

Thanks Auntie Cari and Uncle Sean! This has already been hours (and hours!) of fun!

Happy New Year! Welcome 2009...

Owen stayed up until midnight for the last time since... well... probably since he was only a few weeks old. 

We celebrated New Years eve last night with a few friends and Owen got to play with Piper and Sarah, dress-up, watch movies, play Rock Band, and ring in the new year with all the grown ups. And then he promptly passed out around 12:05am.
