4 months old

Owen is almost 4 months old (2 days to go). He is getting another set of immunization shots this afternoon, so I thought I would do a photo shoot this morning as he will probably be cranky and sleepy for the next few days.

Owen is now 17lbs and growing like a weed. He is in 6-9 month sized clothes, and his teeth are giving him a break. He hasn't needed teething tablets for about 2 weeks now, which has been nice. He does chew on anything and everything, but he isn't in pain... for now.

I haven't done a photo shoot with Owen for alomost a month. May was a busy month for us so almost all our photos are of us out of the house. So I am determined to do more posed photo shoots in June. However, our June calendar is busier than May, and we move next Wednesday, so we'll have to wait and see. I try to take pictures of Owen once a month with this bear so after a while I can compare them and see him grow. One day (not too soon hopefully) he will be bigger than this bear. Until then, they take good pictures together. And here Owen is sporting his own bear ears. :)

My first road trip

I went on my first road trip this past long weekend. First I went to Kamloops to visit my Mummo and Ukki. We left Thursday night and I slept the whole way there! Friday morning we packed up and went to Paul Lake. Here I got to put my feet in the water. It was my first time in a lake. It was cold! We saw ducks and had a picnic lunch. It was great.

That evening we visited my Papa's cousins Mia and Wayne and their kids Li and Luucas. Luucas is over 6 months old and just a pound heavier than me. And my Mama thought he was big. I must be huge! Li and Luucas liked me a lot. They thought I was a new toy for them to play with.

Saturday morning we packed the car back up and headed out to Kelowna to visit my Grandpa Kim and my Uncle Dusty and Uncle Jesse. We watched them all play football and then Grandpa Kim and Tracey watched me while Mama and Papa went out with my Uncles.

Sunday morning we went to another football game, and then headed over to the Kelowna Yaght Club for lunch. I got to meet Theresa for the first time. I sure like her! Then I went on my first boat trip and watched the boys swim in the cold cold lake while I napped onboard.

Before we left to come back home, I posed with Uncle Dusty on his new bike. When I am bigger I will race my tricicle with his motorcycle. I bet I'll win too. :)

Sleepy boys

On Mothers Day the three of us went to my Moms house for lunch. Gabe and Owen went down for a nap while my Mom and I went shopping. I went in to the room to tell Gabe we were going out, and this is what I found...

Look how both Gabe and Owen have their arms up over their heads. How cute!

Owen vs. Weazley

Weazley was my baby for 2.5 years before Owen came along. He is our 16lb orange cat. He is huge and grunts whenever you pick him up. Until yesterday Owen was still smaller than him. But now... Owen is bigger than Weazley! As of today Owen weighs in at 16lbs 2oz.

Babes in arms

Today Owen and I had our first "Babes in arms" exercise class. It is at the Health Clinic. For 90 minuts a week we get to socailize, stretch, and exercise. On the nice sunny days we might switch it up and go for a brisk walk outside too. It's a great new, free class funded by "Success by 6" for Moms and new babies. I got a great work out and Owen loved all the attention and play time with Mom. He napped just before it, and ate just after it, so the timing worked out perfectly today!

There is a pre-natal one too that I wish existed when I was pregnant. These classes are brand new to Chilliwack and run for 8 weeks at a time. If you get the chance to go to one, do it - I highly reccomend it!

Congratulations Adrian and Liz!

I just found out I am going to have a new friend. Auntie Liz and Uncle Adrian are pregnant and making me a new buddy right now! How neat is that?! I get to custom order my new little friend or girl friend. A girl friend would be nice. I only have 2 and could use some more.

This is me and my Auntie Liz back in February at my baby shower. Look how happy she is to hold me for the first time. The picture below is my Uncle Adrian and me. He was nervous to hold me, but he does a great job.

They are going to be great parents. I just wish they would going to be our next door neighbors too. That would have been neat. Oh well, I guess I can't ask for too much. Wait... yes I can. I get everything I want - I'm Owen!

Teething

For a kid who is teething, Owen sure is happy. His poor cheeks are pink, he’s constantly sucking on his hands or soother, and he squaks more than usual because he is in pain (you can really feel his bottom teeth coming in!) but he’s such a happy little guy. Big smiles all the time – and for strangers now too.

Conception

May 8th, 2005 was a good day. Owen was conceived that day. Here is an ultrasound photo of him at 29 weeks (November 3, 2005). It's amazing how much he still looks like this photo. If you're having trouble seeing him, let me help... it is a profile of his face, he is looking to the left. You can see his left eye socket, his little button nose, and his beautiful mouth. His arms are crossed on his chest so you can see his hands and fingers (far left).
We still didn't know he exsisted a year ago, and he wasn't nearly this formed, but he was there none the less. May 8th last year was Mothers Day. I think that is pretty fitting.

Bumbo Seat

Bumbo Seats are great for strengthening baby's tummy and back muscles. You can get them at Great Beginnings in Vedder. Owen loves his Bumbo Seat.

Vancouver Aquarium

The Lanteigne family visited the Vancouver Aquarium with Kim Francis, Muryn Jordan, and Avery Jordan. I had never been there before, neither had Owen, and the last time Gabe went he was 13. The weather was great - a little overcast (which kept the number of people there down) but sunny.

Here is Owen with Auntie Kimberly. If anyone is a big poser like Mama, it's Auntie Kim. We had lots of fun in the gift shop!

The whales were great! And it's fitting that we saw Beluga whales for a few reasons:
1) I sang the "Baby Beluga" song when I was pregnant because I felt like a beluga whale
2) Owen has the book and music CD and loves the "Baby Beluga" song
3) Whales and Owen love to have their tongues pet

Who does he look like?

Ok, I am putting a few photos of Gabe and I on here so you can compare our features with Owens and let me know who you think Owen gets what from. Make sense?

little visit

Mummo (Gabe's Mom), Great-Mummo (Gabe's Grandma), and Great-Auntie Sinni stopped by for a visit with Owen today. Great-Mummo is so cute – she wanted to hold Owen the whole time, and kept bouncing him on her lap, or putting his feet on her face. Owen talked and squealed for them all, and impressed them with his ability to hold himself up so well.

Baptism and Chrismation

Owen was baptized today! Yay! Gabe and I picked up Matt & Krista, and Ryan & Katie at the Francis’s home at quarter to 9am. The girls rode with me and the boys rode with Gabe. At the church we met up with Grandma, the Busanni’s, Kevin, Liz, Gibson, and Eddie Bhuler, Adrian Powers, Shaggy, Ted and Helen Francis, Kim Francis, Ryan, Eric, Carolyn, and Christian Warawa, Shawn, Kristen, and Russel Mocharie, Elia, Joey, and Celine.

Before the service started we got Owen naked (in a diaper), and Matthew held him through out the service until the "dunking". Owens foot hit the votive holders on the way down, and cried a bit on the way up. Krista and Gabe and I changed him, dried him off, and dressed him in his beautiful baptismal outfit that Victoria made for him. Then Krista held him for the rest of the church service until communion when Matt got him again.

As Owen was tontured, he has now officially received his first haircut. Krista kept the hair so I could put it in his baby album. There isn’t too much, but it counts!

Seraphim painted his icon and held it throughout the baptism. Victoria, Ryan, and Ramona took photos for us. Our video camera dies just as the service was starting. :(

After church we stayed for lunch. Auntie Lori, Uncle Carlo and the kids stayed for it all, while the others slipped away at different times. After lunch we headed up to the Jordan’s house for a BBQ. The Chattaway’s, the Choi’s, Seraphim, the Francis’s (Kim, Matthew, and Krista), the Parson’s (Stacey and Joe), the Hewlett’s (Father Justin and Sarah), Ryan and Katie all came. We stayed until late, and Matthew and Krista then flew home.

It was a whirlwind day, similar to our wedding in that I didn't get a chance to talk to everyone I wanted to. For those of you who were able to attend and be a part of the day - thank you! For those who couldn't attend but kept us in your prayers - thank you as well!

Owen's friends

Every Monday Owen and I go to the Chilliwack Gealth Clinic to hang out with our friends, and weigh and measure Owen. Today was no exception. Owen is now 3 months old, weighs 14lbs 13.5oz (80-85th percentile), is 25.25" long (90th percentile), and has a head size of 41.5cm (55-60th percentile).

His weight to length ratio puts Owen in the 40th percentile - that means he is long and lean... I think.

Here is Owen with his friends - Kaelen and Charlie. Owen has a bit of a cruch on Kaelen - and who wouldn't with that smile?!?! All of us Moms were in pre-natal classes together and due around the same time. Charlie was born 2 weeks after Owen, and Kaelen was born 3 weeks after Owen.
