New things

This is Owens new guitar. He pulled it out the other day, sat it on his lap, and started to play it while singing "Old MacDonald had a farm". It was great!
And next summer, Owen can sing to his new baby brother or sister. :) Check out Mama's blog for more details on the new baby.

Owen and Nathan

Owens cousin Nathan came over to play the other night, and this is how we found them: on chairs, watching TV and wearing these adorable hats. Thanks for the dress-up hats Auntie Lori!

Duck Park

Owen and I spent the morning at the Duck Park in Sardis. It was chilly, but sunny and dry - my favorite kind of weather!

Here is Owen looking at the ducks, playing on the swings, and then pretending to be a duck himself. We had so much fun!

Play Group

Play Group came over today. Owen is feeling 100% better, although he isn't eating much these days, I think his stomach really shrunk when he was sick. His gums don't bleed anymore and he lets me brush his teeth once again. He is so happy to get out of teh house now, or have friends over. Being sick is rough. I'm glad it's all over.

Feeling better

Owen went to daycare today for the first time in a week. He was so happy to get out of the house and play with his friends! He is on the mend but isn’t 100% back to normal yet. The one good thing that did come of all this is that Owen is weaned of his sucker. The last time had it was last Tuesday (6 days ago). Because his mouth hurt so bad, Owen refused it for a few days and no longer needs it. Yay! So Gabe and I hid them all and Owen doesn’t even ask for it anymore. Good bye sucker!

Dentist visit

We got home at midnight last night and Owen was asleep right away. At 1:30 he woke up sweating and screaming but fell asleep a minute later on my lap. I brought him into bed with Gabe and I. At 2:30am Owen woke up screaming again. This time we would not settle back down so I took him downstairs. We saty on the living room couch together for half an hour with Owen crying and shifting his position all the time. He finally asked for a milk bottle (which he chugged) and then I put him back to bed. I am so glad he is drinking – he hasn’t had much to drink since Monday and I am afraid he is getting dehydrated.

Then Owen woke up at 8am. We thought he would sleep more as he was up all night, but he woke up happy and wanted to get on with his day. So we got up and watched some cartoons. Owen drank my whole glass of grape juice, which was a large glass. I am so glad he is drinking lots!

Owen had a Dentist appointment today – his 2nd one. This one wasn;t as good as last time. Owen cried and didn’t like the chair. So he sat in my lap, and laid down with his head in the Dentists lap. The Dentist looked in Owens mouth 3 times and said that ll his 2-year molars seem to be coming in at once (the Doctor at the Hospiatl had told us that too).

Owens gums were bleeding way worse than yesterday and the Dentist said it was from me not cleaning them properly. What I need to do now is hold Owen down and properly clea his teeth and gums once a day every day. He said Owens gums might bleed while I do it for 2 weeks. But if they bleed for more than 3 weeks, than call him and come back because that is not good.

Owen also has skin growing between his two front teeth. If that doesn’t go away when he loses his abby teeth, the Dentist will have to cut that skin back. He said that is normal.

Owen didn’t have anything to eat all day, although he did have one more milk bottle before bed that night. He also had a 4 hour nap in th eafternoon.

Hospital visit

The three of us spent the evening at the Hospital tonight. Owens fever finally broke tonight around diner time. It has been between 102 and 104 since Tuesday. Papa put him to bed tonight while I was out at a baby shower. Half an hour after Owen went to bed he woke up screaming and covered in sweat. After at least a half an hour of screaming, writhing, and now calming down Gabe decided to take Owen to the Hospital. I met them there. We waited there from 9-11:30pm until we were tired of waiting and decided to go home. Owen was very tired, and had long since calmed down. He drank a juice box at the Hospital and ate a few squares of a Caramilk bar (left over from Halloween). That was the first food or drink he had had in over 24 hours. The nurses begged us to stay and said a new Doctor was coming in soon. We stayed and saw a Doctor within 10 minutes. He said Owens glands and throat were swollen, and Owens tonsils were red and inflamed. Owen also has some bleeding gums (we noticed this a little bit yesterday too). He gave Owen some Tylenol and sent us home. Owen was very well behaved for the Doctor and even sat on his lap. He said he has an owie in his mouth.
