the Godmother

Krista Francis is Owen's godmother. They met eachother for the first time this past Thursday. Krista is such a sweetheart - we are very blessed to have her and Matthew in our lives.

Owen's baptism is this Sunday and we are very excited about it. Victoria ia making his outfit, and you know I'm going to take nothing short of a million photos of him! So be warned - there will be a bunch of new posts on here after the weekend.

Exersaucer

As Owen isn't feeling well (I think he is teething) I decided to see if he wanted to go in his exersaucer. And he loved it! Yay!

It's great because he loves to look around and see what is going on, plus it keeps him off his head. For most of the day (and night) Owen is putting pressure on the back of his head (sitting in chairs, in the swing, car seat, or in his crib) and that gives him a flat head. Apparently this is a bad thing. After 6-months of age it can't be corrected and kids have to wear stupid helmets because of it. So sitting up and playing in his exersaucer will help avoid a flat head and an ugly helmet.

This particular exersaucer (Safety 1st brand) is great as it has toys attached to one end (see photo) and a tray in the other end for when he is eating solids. It also allows Owen to kick his legs and jump up and down. I had to put a pillow under him so he can touch his feet to it. Otherwise his feet don't reach the ground and he just hangs in the seat.

Cranky Baby

This is an email Owen sent to Gabe today:

Dear Sir,

I am a cranky baby. My Mama feeds me, changes me, takes me for a nice long walk (I wasn't cranky for the walk), and even sings to me while she bathes me, but nothing makes me happy. I just want to cry all day long, and have Mama hold me and rock me to sleep. But I don't really want to be asleep, so I wake up after only 20 minutes.

I am just not happy. I might be teething, and I really need to poop. Nothing makes me feel good today - not even my new clothes. So I puke on them. I puke on them all. Ha ha!

I even plan on being cranky for my Auntie Elia tonight. And my Mama already warned her that I might be. Darn her and her warnings.

I just wanted to let you know that nothing you can do will make me happy. So don't bother trying. I am just a cranky baby.

11 weeks old...

Owen is 11 weeks old now. It's hard to beleive he is almost 3 months old! The time goes by so quickly.

We visited the Health Clinic today to have Owen weigherd, and to visit our new friends there. He now weighs 14lbs 10.5oz, is 24.25" long, and his head is 41cm. He has been sick for a little over a week and hasn't kept much down so his weight isn't what I thought it would be. But he is still gaining (even if it is slowly), and he is healthy, so I'm not worried.

Christ is risen!

Owen celebrated his first Pascha this past weekend. He slept for most of it, but was awake for a photo op!

Going for our daily walk...

Owen loves going for his daily walk. Every day we go for a walk around the neighborhood. Owen loves the snuggli carrier and is always asleep by the time we get home. I love the color of this hat, and it matches his tadpole shirt so well! Auntie Kim gave Owen this hat... handmade with lots of love.

Buddies

4 days after Owen was born (Saturday, February 4th) Thomas and Elizabeth Chattaway came into the world. The twins were due in March and as usual for twins, were born quite early. Owen, being stubborn and lazy like his father, decided to come out 2 weeks late.

This picture is of Thomas and Owen. Look how much bigger Owen is than Thomas. When they hit 5 yeas old they will probably be the same size, but until then Owen will always be larger just because of the fact that Thomas is a preemie (spelling?).

It's always neat to see the twins becuase I forget how small Owen was when he was first born, and I don't realize just quite how large is truely is.

Me and my big feet

I have a feeling Owen is going to be quite tall. Gabe and I are 5'11" and 6'0". I have tall brothers (Dusty is 6'5") and am only average height in my extended family (all but 1 brothers are already taller than me). Gabe is tall in his family. He has a couple of tall cousins, but his Moms side are all pretty short. Gabe's Dad was adopted so we don't know too much about his side, but he was 5'10 or 5'11" I think.

Anyways, I hope Owen will be tall. And if the size of his paws are any indication, he's gonna be huge.

When Owen was first born that was one of the things everyone notices right away... besides the fact that his head was huge, his feet were too. He had long, skinny fingers and long feet.

One of my favorite things about babies is their feet - when they are really fat and look like littel squares sticking off of teh bottoms of their legs. You know, when their feet are as tall as they are long and their toes stick out like sticks pointing in all directions. I love that.

Well Owen isn't quite there just yet, but I know he will be soon. And you know what big feet means... he'll be tall too. :)

He is in the 85-90th percentile for length just about now so he should end up being taller than his Mama by the time he's 13 or 14. At least that's my guess.

My Osh Kosh Baby

Little Boy Blue

Owen is 10 weeks old now. He weighs 13lbs 14.5oz, is 23.5" long and has a huge head size of 40.5cm. He is continuing to gain weight, but not as much as he should be. Therefore he is dropping in the weight percentile. Hopefully he will pick things back up again soon.

This outfit was given to him by his Auntie Elia, and the little blue kangaroo was a gift from his Auntie Kelly and Uncle Jason (who love IKEA as much as I do!).

Prince Charming

Owen is my Prince Charming for many reasons...

#1- His Grandma gave him a blanket with frogs wearing crowns on it that says "Prince Charming"

#2- His Grandma gave him a giant stuffed animal frog wearing a crown (from IKEA)

#3- "Prince Charming" is one of my nicknames for Owen

#4- Owen is so beautiful, and I have no doubt that along with his easy going personality Owen has inherited his Fathers charm

#5- Even though Owen was very cranky today he still gave me a few smiles during our photo shoot

Cranky boy!

Owen had his first set of immunizations last week and he has been a very cranky boy ever since. I have booked a doctors appointment to discuss this as I didn't expect the shots to still be bothering him 7 days later.

That's why there hasn't been an update on the blog lately - all he does is cry. I feel so bad for him! I wish I knew what was hurting him so bad!

Busy little bee

I bought this bee outfit as a set (shorts, shirt, bib, booties, and toy) from Superstore years before I was pregnant. I knew one day , when I did get pregnant and have a baby, I would want the nursury to have the "bears as bees" theme.
Owen finally fits the outfit now that he is 14 lbs (at 2 months old!) and I can take the pictures I have been dreaming of for years!
